Tracy Lovejoy

Tracy Lovejoy is a senior associate within the Planning and Environment team at Irwin Mitchell LLP. She is a planning specialist with 20 years of experience in a wide range of town and country planning matters as well as experience of working within local government. Her practice also includes compulsory purchase, highway matters and working in the rural sector in matters such as rights of way, commons land and town and village green applications. She has experience in contentious matters including applying for and defending in judicial review and planning statutory challenges, enforcement and planning appeals, advising in enforcement notices and planning injunctions. Tracy started her practice as a pupil barrister in 9 Stone Buildings, a chancery set of chambers in London. She then moved to Waverley District Council and developed her planning specialism working on enforcement matters, planning applications and appeals, lawful development certificates as well as advising on planning committee. She spent a further 6 years in private practice at Hammonds Solicitors advising and assisting planning, highway and compulsory purchase order matters to the then regional development agency, housebuilders, local authorities and supermarkets. Prior to joining Irwin Mitchell, she was the property and planning team leader at Bromsgrove District Council and then the head of planning at Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors. In respect of compulsory purchase, Tracy has acted for acquiring authorities and landowners at all stages of the CPO. She has experience advising on CPOs ranging for single-property Housing Act CPOs to regeneration, town centre and retail schemes. She has also advised clients in respect of the HS2 compulsory purchases.
