Croydon Urban Room

Spatial Planning Service, London Borough of Croydon

The project is pioneering a new form of transparent civic engagement in an edge condition of a growing city; it aims to de-institutionalise and deconstruct socio-economic and cultural barriers, making planning and placemaking popular.

Since its Pilot inception in late 2019, the project has been championed by the GLA and presented at a thought-leading community engagement event at NLA. Other London borough representatives and industry bodies have also reached out to learn from our progress so far. The project highlights the potential for council-led engagement to be truly innovative and meaningful to the public it serves.
