Hackney Wick Fish Island

Hackney Wick + Fish Island Retrospective Masterplan Team

Submission Summary:

The approach in Hackney Wick and Fish Island is different from a masterplan, and instead marks a return to principled city building. Owners and occupiers work closely with authorities to successfully steer change in a place which is not in single ownership. This experience highlights the importance of knowing and understanding the particular qualities that contribute to character of a place and the features valued by those that live and work there. This provides the basis for successful placemaking.
