Hart, Rushmoor and Surrey Heath Special Protection Area (SPA) Mitigation Project

The joint project undertook a robust and detailed assessment of a range of alternative measures. It recommended that alternative approaches to SPA mitigation could be used and, as a result, Natural England have revised their guidelines to reflect the findings of this project.

The project is considered to be an excellent example of positive and proactive collaborative working between the three local authorities and Natural England. This has resulted in a solution to enable the delivery of new homes and a valuable network of green infrastructure, whilst ensuring that the natural environment continues to be protected.
