Hull Royal Infirmary New Main Entrance and Paediatric Department
Race Cottam Associates
The entrance to Hull Royal Infirmary was set-back and not very visible, causing confusion for patients and visitors. As part of a new three-storey extension, the entrance has been redesigned and now features a double-height glazed atrium, inviting people in while maximising natural light and ventilation. The project also involved redesigning the hospital’s paediatric department, introducing new facilities and overnight accommodation, flexible space-saving furniture, and colourful wayfinding graphics. The judges admired a “fabulous design” that “skilfully incorporates shape, colour and form”.
