New Cambridge Mosque

Submission summary: From inception, the client decided that public engagement would be at the heart of the project for this community building and space. This decision meant that community representatives formed part of the decision-making team at the architect’s interview.

From day one, community involvement provided a unique and important perspective, bringing a refreshing openness and confidence in stakeholder collaboration.

The project benefitted greatly from this exemplar undertaking at pre-application and application phases.

Now open to the public, the mosque has created a important cultural and social layer to this once run-down area, providing a focus for the local and wider community.
