Wetland Habitat Creation Sizewell C EDF, Arcadis

Arcadis

Marsh harrier, a rare wetland raptor, forage around the site of Sizewell C. A specially designed 4.5ha wetland is being created on farmland close to the RSPB’s Minsmere Nature Reserve (and SSSI). This will not only provide enhanced foraging, but breeding and sheltering habitat for a wide range of protected species. In addition to buffering the reserve from potential construction disturbance, this scheme will deliver many ecosystems services and provide much needed climate change resilience. As the wetland will be managed in perpetuity there will be a very significant beneficial effect and potentially a functional extension to the existing reserve.
