Samuel Stafford
Regional Strategic Land Director , Barratt Homes
I am a Chartered Town Planner with skills and experience accumulated across the property sector. In the early stages of my career I worked for a housebuilder in South Yorkshire (Ben Bailey Homes), a planning and landscape consultancy in Lincolnshire (The Robert Doughty Consultancy), and, following a move to Ripponden, Calderdale Council's development control team. I have worked for a land and property investment company, identifying and appraising development opportunities and promoting assets within the group portfolio through the planning system. I have also worked as a planning consultant in multi-disciplinary environments. My current role as Regional Strategic Land Director at Barratt Developments involves working with the Divisional Barratt and David Wilson businesses in the North West, West Midlands and South Wales to increase the size of, manage, and report to Group on the health of, their strategic land portfolios. I am a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (and sit on the Institute's England Policy Committee) and the Town & Country Planning Association. The planning news and opinion that I cannot fit into 280 characters on Twitter (@samuel_stafford) I sometimes post on the 50 Shades of Planning Blog (samuelstafford.blogspot.co.uk), but podcasting is my current favourite hobby (pod.co/50-shades-of-planning).
