A climate resilience-led project, the Barking Riverside Foreshore Works will help futureproof a large scale neighbourhood of up to 20,000 new homes in East London against the impacts of climate change. The highly collaborative project raises flood defences and creates new drainage infrastructure, unlocking thousands of new homes and delivering an impressive public realm. Crucially, the scheme protects the largest grassland of its type on the River Thames, creating and enhancing habitats for an array of species, many of them protected.
