Once Europe’s largest gasworks, the site has remained dormant and disconnected for decades. The proposals seek to establish a riverside neighbourhood, delivering up to 2,900 homes, commercial and community space, and major new 3-hectare public realm, including Pier Park with 800 metres of Thames frontage. Through remediation, climate-resilient design, pedestrian and cycle-first connectivity, and community-led planning, Phase 1 creates a safer, greener and inclusive place, laying the foundation for the long-term social, economic and environmental revitalisation of Beckton Riverside.
