Circus Street

U+I

Comprising a mix of residential, office, retail and cultural uses, Circus Street has transformed a derelict market in Brighton. The one-hectare scheme includes 142 homes, 450 student bedrooms, 2,800 square metres of office space, 10 shops, a 1,300 square-metre dance space and two public spaces. Sustainable features include solar-powered buildings, green roofs, and more than 600 secure cycle spaces. More than 100 trees and 10,000 shrubs have been planted across the new neighbourhood. The judges admired an “excellent example of mixed-use development and techniques”.
