The Grade II* Listed County Hall in Kingston upon Thames is being transformed from former administrative buildings into a vibrant residential, cultural, and employment hub. The adaptive reuse is rooted in respect; retaining and sensitively converting the listed building, while introducing new architecture that complements and elevates the heritage setting. A balance of preservation, progress, and contemporary placemaking. This scheme re-opens a previously closed-off site, with pedestrian thoroughfares, landscaped gardens, affordable and market homes together with employment space within the restored civic interiors. The restoration of County Hall Kingston exemplifies successful placemaking through the inventive reuse of this cultural asset.
