 From the outset, the Crown Wharf design team took a masterplan approach to create a comprehensive proposal that stitches the scheme into the existing and emerging surroundings. The masterplan objective was to generate movement and make connections along the River Lea, and to provide a desirable mixed-use scheme in a currently monofunctional space. The masterplan took Canning Town and Newham as a whole into account, with the aim of providing employment opportunities for local residents, high quality housing, attractive green spaces, and connections to underutilised locations such as the Bow Creek Ecology Park.
