 With over 600 listed buildings and 28 conservation areas, the City’s rich architectural heritage presents a uniquely challenging environment in which to deliver retrofit. Many of these buildings require significant interventions to improve energy performance, address climate resilience and shift to low carbon energy. The Heritage Retrofit Toolkit, developed in collaboration with consultants Purcell, offers innovative and practical guidance for retrofitting historic buildings while preserving their heritage value. The toolkit, developed through extensive engagement, provides a step-by-step process and tailored sustainability guidance across different building typologies, to empower and equip the custodians of these unique and irreplaceable heritage assets.
