Old Kent Road bridge mural: Not any old road - A home from home
Southwark Council
The Old Kent Road railway bridge has been transformed with a unique mural titled ‘Not any old Road - A Home from Home’, created by the local community. Designs were developed following extensive engagement with local people, school children and Southwark Young advisors, including many workshops and supper clubs led by local artists. The mural, completed in Autumn 2024, celebrates the cultural diversity of Old Kent Road and identifies places of importance to local people including faith premises, restaurants and community halls. Part funded by the Government’s Future High Streets Fund, it creates a distinctive gateway to Old Kent Road.
