Oval Village Phase 2
GRID Architects with Berkeley Homes
This major regeneration project will transform a contaminated and derelict site into a vibrant, mixed-use community of 738 homes with shops, cafés, and offices. The Oval Gas Works was a secure compound with no public access, and designated as a Key Industrial Business Area. GRID worked with Lambeth Council and Berkeley Homes to produce a wider area masterplan (OAKDA) which was used as the basis for the de-designation of the site. Creating over an acre of public space, two new areas and a series of tree-lined routes will open the once inaccessible site for the first time in 150 years.
