PlanAI: An AI tool for Digital Planning

PlanAI is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool specifically designed to process and summarise the thousands of comments submitted during planning policy consultations. Developed in partnership with the University of Liverpool, and built on over 100,000 previous consultation comments and planning terms, Plan AI significantly speeds up the plan making process allowing planners to focus their expertise on technical tasks. Development of PlanAI included focus groups, an evaluation exercise and user testing, which showed a summarisation task that previously took 18.5 hours took just 16 minutes using the tool. This tool will be instrumental in supporting our Local Plan process.
