Restoration and reuse of the historic EMD Granada Walthamstow

The Soho Theatre Walthamstow project has restored one of the borough’s key historic buildings to its former glory, through careful and considered understanding and intervention. In doing so it has removed the building from the At Risk register. It is a leading example of how investment in heritage assets can have overwhelmingly positive impacts, reaching far beyond just the building itself, but including social, community and economic impact too. By taking the bold decision to invest in culture and heritage in such a substantial way, the project creates a fantastic legacy for Waltham Forest, the first London Borough of Culture.
