Executive summary from entrant:
Skyports Infrastructure, the leader in vertiport infrastructure for the advanced air mobility industry and Bicester Motion, the 444-acre future mobility estate in Oxfordshire, are creating the UK’s first vertiport testbed. The vertiport is under construction on the former RAF Bicester Aerodrome, which will include a compact passenger terminal. Aiming for completion in Spring 2025, it will be a living lab and a critical facility for testing electric vertical take-off and landing flight operations, ground infrastructure, and air traffic management and will play a significant role in enabling the next generation of electric, low noise aviation in the UK. The historic aerodrome was designed to support cutting edge aviation in 1926 and today does so once again as a centre for transport technology, supporting the very latest in electric flight and providing a viable future for a remarkable location with over 114 years of aviation history.
