Our Deployment Model is a digital tool that uses layers of spatial data to review competing marine demands and seabed uses to 2050. The tool provides a 30-fold speed improvement on a manual GIS approach and spatially deconflicts space enabling infrastructure, habitats and marine users to co-exist. The model runs scenarios to understand the planning balance between challenging circumstances e.g. minimising environmental impact and optimising seabed use whilst delivering cost effective growth. This technology improves functionality in marine spatial planning including our forthcoming Routemap, allowing spatial planners and decision makers to understand the implications of marine developments and decisions.
