Stacey Robins
Head of Planning and Environmental Services , Wealden District Council
Local government planner and seemingly lifer at Wealden (!). University of Sheffield alumnus (undergrad and postgrad Diploma). Great time there and knew I wanted to be a planner. Started formally in 1999, through I was volunteering at the CPRE during latter years at Sheffield and also at Cheltenham BC during Uni holidays. Post Uni was at DM in Cheltenham BC for a few years (99-06). Very grateful for experiences and education there: worked with some excellent people and brilliant planners, often draw on experiences from that time due to superb grounding and work ethic learnt at that time. Joined Wealden proper in 06 and have been promoted through DM roles to reach Head of Service. Have also done secondment roles to planning policy (but wasn't any good at that - some might also say not any good at DM!). Now lead multi disciplinary teams, including large DM team (together with enforcement, conservation and design, trees, biodiversity and countryside engineers) Land Charges and the Building Control Team (shared service with Wealden, Rother, Eastbourne and Hastings). Passionate about Wealden: it's a superb place with enormous variety and richness in history, landscape and people. You should check it out if you don't know it. When not at work I cycle (slowly) or run (definitely slowly!) or wander round the countryside with my wife and three boys. If not, then can often be found on LinkedIn trying (and failing!) to be funny. |
